Did Simon Cowell Confirm The Louis Baby News?

It's been quite an eventful year for One Direction, huh? First, Zayn shocked fans when he left the band back in March and dyed his hair lime green afterward. Then just last week, another bombshell dropped: Louis Tomlinson is reportedly expecting a child with Briana Jungwirth. While Tomlinson has yet to confirm the news himself, his mentor may have inadvertently done so for him. By "mentor," I mean the man responsible for One Direction in the first place: Simon Cowell. In an interview with The Sun, Cowell shared his reaction to Tomlinson's baby news and in doing so, pretty much provided confirmation that a tiny Tomlin-son (or -daughter) is on the way. Cowell told the paper,

I said to him, 'You man up. You’re fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that.' But I also told him, 'I've received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I'm here for you.'

Wise words! With the tell-it-like-it-is attitude that he's known for, Cowell offered great advice to Tomlinson, encouraging him to take responsibility for his actions and soon-to-be family. It's also sweet to see Cowell offer to be there for moral support.

Another important thing to keep in mind? Cowell said this isn't bad news and shouldn't be viewed as such. He explained, "He didn't kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it's a plus, not a negative." Excellent point. It's great that there's such a strong support system surrounding Tomlinson.

So the million-dollar question: What does all of this mean for the future of One Direction? Cowell shared some thoughts on that, too. He told The Sun,

In terms of the band, they've got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do. Then I hope they'll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It's a fun job, but it’s absolutely their decision.

Here's hoping that 1D isn't done for good. Of course taking care of Jungwirth and his newborn will be the main priority, but once things settle down, I'm rooting for Tomlinson and his bandmates to reunite. Fingers crossed!
