Watch Kelly Clarkson Take On T.Swift

by Sofia Barrett-Ibarria

Kelly Clarkson has been killing it lately in concert, covering songs with versions that might be even better than the originals. Over the last few months, Clarkson has performed stunning renditions of everything from Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" to Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" to Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," and the latest rendition to blow your mind will be Clarkson's cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space." Steel yourself now: it's shockingly gorgeous, and you might not even be able to handle it.

Clarkson unveiled the "Blank Space" cover during her Saturday, July 25 concert in Toronto, during the "fan request" part of the show; all tour long, she's been taking audience requests for covers of songs like NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" and Nick Jonas' "Jealous." In the video of her most recent cover, Clarkson completely transforms the song, and might have even improved on it. Whether you're a fan of Clarkson, or Swift, or both, there's no denying that the "Invincible" singer will make you see "Blank Space" from a completely different angle. Clarkson's famously smooth and soulful vocals turn even the most seemingly unlikely songs into sensual slow jams that give you feelings you never thought you had, and make you see the tunes, like "Blank Space," in entirely different ways.

Isn't it gorgeous?! Here's how it stacks up to Swift's original.

Kelly Clarkson's "Blank Space"

The Vibe

Sad and soulful.

The Vocals

Clarkson BRINGS IT with her steller R&B/gospel inspired vocal stylings, as per usual.

The Video

Just Clarkson onstage with her band, looking beautiful, confident, and laying it all on the line. Cue the feelings.

Taylor Swift's "Blank Space"

The Vibe

Fancy. Elegant. Refined.

The Vocals

Pure pop.

The Video

Fully produced, fully dramatized. SO MUCH DRAMA.

Choosing a favorite is impossible — they're just way too different. The only way to cope with the two versions? Listening to them both on repeat, because they're each just so, so good.
