Everything To Know About And Just Like That... Season 3
The cast features many surprising new additions and a few departures.

And just like that, And Just Like That... was renewed for a third season. Days before the Season 2 finale, featuring the long-awaited return of Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones, Max renewed the Sex and the City reboot for Season 3, meaning Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) still has many lives to live and shoes to buy.
Spoilers for AJLT Season 2 ahead. The finale gave longtime SATC fans a bittersweet yet satisfying ending. After grieving her late husband, Carrie reunited with her other “big love” Aidan (John Corbett). But once his teenage son goes through a crisis, Aidan ends the season by asking Carrie to put their relationship on hold for five years until he can return to New York so they can be together. (Yes, really.) Carrie reluctantly agrees, and still moves into the Gramercy Park townhouse she hoped to live in with Aidan and his family, letting go of her Upper East Side apartment.
With a third season officially on the way, it’s time to speculate on what’s ahead for Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and their growing circle of family and friends. Here’s everything you need to know about And Just Like That... Season 3.
The AJLT Season 3 Cast
The show’s core cast — Parker, Nixon, and Davis — are all returning for Season 3. The trio will be joined by Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa and Sarita Choudhury as Seema. Mario Cantone will also return as Anthony, with his new boyfriend, Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi), being upgraded to a series regular. However, not every new friend will be back in their orbit.
On Feb. 26, Variety reported that Che Diaz, played by Sara Ramírez, will not be returning for the third season. The next month, it was announced that Karen Pittman had left the show, despite her character, Nya, being written into the Season 3 scripts, due to filming conflicts with her other two series, The Morning Show and Forever.
Then, of course, there’s the Aidan of it all. While it’s not known how strictly the writers will stick to Carrie and Aidan’s five-year promise, Corbett is confirmed to return for Season 3 in some capacity, as revealed when he was spotted filming with Parker herself.
The returning cast will be joined by new faces as well, some of which are being played by A-list names. On May 1, Rosie O’Donnell confirmed she’s joining the series, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of the Season 3 script on Instagram. “Here comes Mary,” she captioned the post, revealing her character’s name.
In January, it was announced that Patti LuPone will star on Season 3 as Giuseppe’s mother, who quickly becomes Anthony’s “nemesis,” as she told Andy Cohen on Radio Andy.
In March 2025, Davis revealed that Ella Stiller, the daughter of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, had joined the AJLT cast. While she didn’t disclose details about her role, Davis did gush about Stiller to her mother. “Let me tell you, we’re in a scene together where literally every person shows up and Ella was just such a trooper,” she told Taylor on her Are You A Charlotte? podcast.
Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Is Unlikely To Return
After expressing zero interest in reprising the role of Samantha, Cattrall made a cameo in the Season 2 finale after the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content called her personally, making some fans speculate that the door was open for another return.
In the brief scene, Carrie receives a phone call from Samantha, who was planning to attend Carrie’s dinner party until her flight from London got delayed, meaning she’d have to miss out on the festivities.
According to Variety, Cattrall filmed her scene without Parker or showrunner Michael Patrick King, but she was dressed by original Sex and the City costumer Patricia Field, which was one of her conditions to return.
Cattrall insists this cameo will be the last fans see of her on AJLT. “That’s as far as I’m going to go,” she told Today in June. With that being said, she refused to say a final farewell to Samantha. “I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye to Samantha,” she said. “I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much, and I’m so appreciative of her.”
This SATC Feature Will Return
While Cattrall won’t return, another beloved part of SATC is making a comeback: Carrie’s voiceover. King told Entertainment Weekly in January that Carrie will be writing a new book this season, which created an opening for her comforting voiceovers — the ones that usually ended with, “I couldn’t help but wonder...” — to return in some form.
“When we did voiceover on Sex and the City, Carrie had this overview of everything. She was telling you what to think and what to feel,” he explained. “For the first two seasons of And Just Like That, I took the voiceover away because I didn’t think she knew what she was feeling. But she’s starting to feel things again and have an overview of where she is in the world.”
The AJLT Season 3 Trailer
On April 15, Max unveiled the AJLT Season 3 trailer, giving fans a first look at what Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are up to now. “There’s nothing like summer in New York City,” Carrie says in her voiceover, confirming King’s previous claims to Davis that Season 3 “feels like a summer show.”
For her next book, Carrie is seemingly diving into the “romantasy” genre, while navigating her “complicated” situation with Aidan and sparks with a new neighbor. Miranda has developed a new work crush, while Charlotte now has to confront the fact that her daughter Lily is dating — and seeing a hot ballet dancer at that.
The AJLT Season 3 Premiere Date
As confirmed by the trailer, AJLT will return on May 29 at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming on Max weekly. Season 3 will consist of 12 episodes, leading up to the season finale that premieres on Aug. 14.
When Will AJLT Season 3 Film?
On Feb. 13, Nicole Ari Parker told Entertainment Tonight that AJLT would resume production in May, which is confirmed by Rosie O’Donnell’s Instagram post. However, she stayed mum on details regarding the cast and plot.
“I’ve just heard about some storylines, but I’m sworn to secrecy,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know anything about the cast. I just know we’re going back, which is exciting.”
This timeline aligns with Sarah Jessica Parker wrapping up the West End run of her play Plaza Suite, which closed on April 13.
This post will be updated as more details are announced.
