It seems that the Queen of Twitter is done tweeting for good. On Wednesday, March 24, Chrissy Teigen took to the social media app to announce that, after years of connecting with fans and making them laugh on the internet, she has decided to quit Twitter. “Hey. For over 10 years, you guys have been my world,” she wrote, nodding to the special relationship that she has developed with her followers over the years. “I honestly owe so much to this world we have created here. I truly consider so many of you my actual friends. But it’s time for me to say goodbye.”

The Cravings cookbook author went on to explain that she ultimately couldn’t handle the pressure (and criticism) that comes with being a public figure on the internet. “This no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively, and I think that’s the right time to call something,” she continued. “My life goal is to make people happy. The pain I feel when I don’t is too much for me.”

The model also said that in her efforts to remain a beloved internet personality, she slowly but surely became someone online that she’s not in real life. “I’ve always been portrayed as the strong clap back girl but I’m just not,” she added, alluding to all of the trolls she’s had to put in their place (including former President Donald Trump). “My desire to be liked and my fear of pissing people off has made me somebody you didn’t sign up for, and a different human than I started out here as! Live well, tweeters. Please know all I ever cared about was you!!!”

Before signing off and deleting her account entirely, the 35-year-old took a moment to remind her supporters to be careful with their words while interacting with others online. “I encourage you to know and never forget that your words matter. No matter what you see, what that person portrays, or your intention,” she wrote, adding that people’s comments have impacted her more than anyone had ever realized. “For years I have taken so many small 2-follow count punches that at this point, I am honestly deeply bruised.”

“I have made my mistakes, throughout years and in front of hundreds of thousands, and been held accountable for them,” Teigen continued. “I’ve learned an incredible amount here. God I have said f*cked up sh*t and killed myself over it as much as you killed me. But one thing I haven’t learned is how to block out the negativity.”

In hindsight, Teigen’s struggle to maintain a healthy relationship with the platform was clear. Last month, she asked President Joe Biden to unfollow her because she felt too much pressure to tweet the right things. “I have tweeted a handful of times since my treasured @POTUS following,” she wrote at the time. “In order for me to flourish as me, I must ask you to please lord unfollow me. I love you!!! It’s not you it’s me!!!!” Fortunately, her request was quickly granted and the @POTUS account unfollowed. “B*tch f*ck sh*t suck the d I am FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!” she tweeted in celebration.

Now that Teigen has officially quit Twitter, it’s clear that it wasn’t just President Biden’s follow that was holding her back from being her true self; it was the pressure that came with tweeting to an audience of over 13.7 million and not being able to please everyone. “I’m just a sensitive sh*t, okay?!” she wrote in one of her last tweets ever. “I don’t wanna be this way! I just am! But I love you guys and I cherish our time together, I truly do. I also hate you.”
