That’s where emergency contraception like Plan B One-Step comes in: It works by temporarily delaying ovulation to help prevent a pregnancy when taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex or birth control failure. Without ovulation, there’s no egg to meet the sperm, which means no fertilization, and in turn, no pregnancy.
