Ever since the Day Without Immigrants protest was announced for Thursday, Feb. 16, #DayWithoutImmigrants tweets and memes have been popping up on social media left and right. Ever since the demonstration began, hundreds of immigrants and their allies have skipped work, closed their businesses, donated to nonprofits that support immigrants, and taken to the streets to protest against President Donald Trump's anti-immigration policies.

It's been less than a month since Trump signed an executive order to prohibit immigrants and refugees from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States. The numbers aren't out yet in terms of how many people are going to take part in Day Without Immigrants protests, but reports indicate that numerous restaurants, grocery stores, and other businesses are participating throughout the nation. On Feb. 13, thousands of Latinos and their supporters came out for a Day Without Latinos, a similar strike in Wisconsin to increase the visibility of Latinos in America that have helped shape the country.

The fact that people have organized noticeably impactful protests in such a short amount of time says a lot.
