Perhaps nothing else has divided our country more fiercely than the 2016 presidential election. During his campaign, President-elect Donald Trump frequently riled up crowds and called for Hillary Clinton to be locked up, a phrase that ultimately became a rallying cry for his supporters. Post-election, those against Trump took to the streets in protest, calling for the Electoral College to vote for someone else. Now, the tension has taken to commercial air travel as two men were removed from a JetBlue flight for harassing Ivanka Trump.

According to TIME, a male passenger on the flight reportedly began shouting at Trump, saying, "Your father is ruining the country." The passenger and his husband were removed from the flight shortly after. One of the passengers involved, Matthew Lassner, tweeted about the events, before later deleting the tweets, saying, "Ivanka and Jared at JFK T5, flying commercial. My husband chased them down to harass them. #banalityofevil" and "Ivanka and Jared on our flight. My husband expressed displeasure in a calm tone, JetBlue staff overheard, and they kicked us off the plane." This contradicts that the passenger had been "yelling" at Trump, but ultimately JetBlue did decide to remove them for "causing conflict."

JetBlue responded to the incident, saying:

The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly. If the crew determines that a customer is causing conflict on the aircraft, the customer will be asked to deplane, especially if the crew feels the situation runs the risk of escalation during flight. In this instance, our team worked to re-accommodate the party on the next available flight.

Unsurprisingly, people had a lot to say about the event on Twitter, defending Ivanka and her family as they traveled. These nine tweets about Ivanka's flight show that even if people disagree with her politically, they're not going to condone that type of harassment:

Some Admired Her For Traveling Commercial

Others Praised Her For Keeping Her Cool

Piers Morgan Defended Ivanka

Another Person Brought Up The Hypocrisy

Someone Called For Civility

What If It Had Been Chelsea?

Another Called For A Response From Feminists

And Lamented The Distressing Situation

Maybe In A Different Setting It Would Have Been Better

Regardless of someone's political beliefs, most people would agree that yelling at someone who's with their children on a flight probably isn't the most effective way to get your viewpoint across. Yes, many people are fearful of what will happen because of a Trump administration, but this does not solve the problem. It may feel nice to release some frustration, and people are certainly warranted in their worry for their futures, but finding a healthy way to express that is key for all of us in surviving the next four years.
