There's A New United Flight 3411 Video

On Sunday, a United Airlines passenger on Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville was removed from his seat, and video of the incident spread on social media due to the forcible nature that security officers used to drag him through the aisle of the plane. Now, another United passenger video has emerged, showing just before the incident, when removed passenger David Dao arguing with the security officers who dragged him off of the plane from which he sustained injuries.

In the video, which was filmed by Joya Cummings, who was sitting behind Dao on the plane, Dao told the Chicago Department of Aviation security officers that he would not get up from his seat, according to BuzzFeed. "I'm a physician, have to work tomorrow. Eight o'clock," he reportedly told the security officers. On the recording, you can also hear him repeatedly telling the officers, "I won't go."

It appears that the security officers warned Dao that they would have to drag him off of the plane, to which he responded, "Well, you can then drag me. I won't go." He also said that he would rather go to jail than get off the plane.

From there, Dao was lifted out of his seat by the officers, who dragged him down the middle aisle of the plane.

Cummings posted the video to the Facebook page on Tuesday, accompanied by a note.

He just wanted to go home, had to work the next day and did not feel it was right to have to give up his seat, a seat he was already sitting in upon the plane. The airline was not able to get him home until after 2 pm Monday afternoon. He was irritated as any passenger would be, questioning why he was chosen and explaining that he was a doctor and had patients to see in the morning. I was not concerned for my safety, nor that of my toddler’s or for my pregnancy until the police were called aboard our plane to remove him. I was worried about what a physical altercation would entail with us sitting directly behind him and if the officers were armed in a tiny, confined space.

The plane had boarded on Sunday when four United crew members approached gate staff explaining that they needed to board the plane in order to make a downline connection in Louisville the next day. Because the plane was full, staffers asked for four volunteers to give up their seats in exchange for compensation. When no one did, they randomly picked four passengers to do so.

Three passengers left the plane but Dao refused. Staffers called the Department of Aviation security officers to remove him, which is when the confrontation occurred and Dao was dragged from the plane.

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz apologized in several different statements, including one where he said, "I continue to be disturbed by what happened. I deeply apologize to the customer forcibly removed and to all the customers aboard. No one should ever be mistreated this way." He also promised a review of the situation to be made public by April 30.

United is reportedly offering compensation to all passengers who were on Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville on Sunday. Several Chicago Department of Aviation security officers have been placed on leave following the incident.
