After months of pregnancy rumors, there may finally be an answer regarding a certain celebrity couple. In other words, are Cheryl and Liam Payne actually having a baby? According to the cover of the Feb. 23 issue of The Daily Mirror, Cheryl is reportedly pregnant and debuting her baby bump for the whole world to see. Various reports are saying that the image comes from a campaign photo for a collaboration with The Prince's Trust and L'Oreal Paris. Reps for Cheryl and Payne could not be reached by Bustle at the time of publication.
However, it's worth noting that both Cheryl and Payne have remained mum on the subject on social media, not even referencing the image that began circulating online on Wednesday, Feb. 22. For this reason, I'd pump the brakes before you send them balloons or a bouquet of flowers. Let's wait and see if the usually lovey-dovey couple confirms the news themselves.
Sure, you can look at the Daily Mirror's photo of Cheryl and speculate all you want about what's happening inside the X Factor U.K. judge's belly. Or, you could do the even better thing, aka not analyzing and assessing a woman's body — something that happens far too often in our society. If there's an interview accompanying this photo, where Cheryl opens up about having a baby, I'll gladly congratulate her. I'm just saying, I don't want to get to excited until the news is first confirmed, and secondly, shared by the couple themselves. It feels a bit invasive otherwise.
If Payne is going to be a father, I'm certainly rooting for him to schedule playdates with fellow One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson's son Freddie. Can you imagine if they form their own singing group? And of course, the rest of the 1D guys could act as honorary uncles. With two vocally gifted parents, that potential baby would likely have an incredible set of pipes.
But again, I'm getting ahead of myself. This definitely is the most concrete evidence that the couple is indeed expecting. And I know that looks a lot like a baby bump. So, let's wait and see — a congratulations may be in order for the pair in the very near future.
