Quotes To Share On Social Media For Labor Day

by Sarah Fielding

For most Americans, Labor Day represents the end of summer, one last chance to celebrate the nice weather before the leaves start to change and your sweaters come out. While this is true, Labor Day is so much more than that: Labor Day is a time to recognize the hard work of Americans and allow a day to relax and reflect on a job well done. In today's age, a good portion of that day will be spent sharing that time on social media. Labor Day is a great opportunity to inspire and applaud yourself and your fellow Americans on your dedication to hard work. Here's why you should share a Labor Day quote on social media that reflects that.

Signed into law by Grover Cleveland in 1894, Labor Day was created in response to two very different worker's events. The first, in 1882, was a "monster labor festival." It was made up of 10,000 union marchers and a picnic in New York City. The second took place 12 years later, and was far darker: Employees of George Pullman went on strike outside of Chicago after not receiving an increase in wages. By refusing to operate the train cars, mail stopped being delivered, and Cleveland was forced to send in troops to break up the strike. This led to rioting and arson use, leading it to be one of the bloodiest events involving America's laborers.

Despite its rocky beginnings, Labor Day now stands for a time to recognize all the work that we do throughout the year, and the work that those around us do. You work hard and deserve this day to relax and enjoy the last bits of summer. However, it's important to remind yourself why you work so hard the rest of the year. Share these inspiring quotes on Labor Day straight from successes on what gets them motivated and why your work matters.
