Mardi Gras is almost here and if you're headed to New Orleans to get in on the big celebration, good for you — we're all jealous. But if you're stuck at home and beginning to suffer from some serious FOMO, fret not. There are still tons of ways you can get involved from home that will make you feel a little bit less left out. You can throw your own Carnival-themed party with Cajun food and jazz music and beads galore, or you can sit back, relax and watch it all happen from the cozy side of a computer screen.

Social media is bound to be seriously under the influence of Mardi Gras madness for a while so feel free to join the parade via your Facebook newsfeed. There are so many amazing pictures, GIFs and quotes for Mardi Gras that you can use to spread the festivities without trying too hard.

Because the event is so popular and so historic, tons of celebrities and inspiring voices have chimed in to speak on the celebration. These are a few of my favorite quotes about the holiday. Feel free to post them to your Facebook status on Mardi Gras to get in on the fun.

“And the glorious Night is approaching — this quaint, old-time night, star-jeweled, fantastically robed; and the blue river is bearing us fleets of white boats thronged with strangers who doubtless are dreaming of lights and music, the tepid, perfumed air of Rex’s palace, and the motley route of merry ghosts, droll goblins, and sweet fairies, who will dance the dance of Carnival until blue day puts out at once the trembling tapers of the stars and the lights of the great ball.” — Lafcadio Hearn

“Mardi Gras is in our soul.” — Kim Priez

"I think Mardi Gras is a symbol that we're down but not out." — Arthur Hardy

“Mardi Gras, baby. Mardi Gras. Time when all manner of weird sh*t cuts loose and parties down.” ― Sherrilyn Kenyon, No Mercy
