How To Improve Your Love Life In 5 Words

They say that love is easy but relationships are hard, so Twitter is offering up advice on how to hack the system with the trending hashtag #ImproveYourLoveLifeIn5Words. Although a lot of the responses are, as you'd expect, irreverent and self-deprecating, it's pretty impressive how many helpful hints can actually fit into so few words.

Ask anyone their opinion on ways to do better in love, and they're likely to have a tip or two. People make millions off the subject, as the only pre-requisite to giving said advice is to either fail spectacularly and learn from your mistakes, or succeed and offer a model for others to replicate.

Steve Harvey famously said women shouldn't sleep with a man for three months to keep him on the hook (yuck). Millionaire matchmaker Patti Stanger said there should be no sex before monogamy (double yuck). And Greg Behrendt once said “'Busy' is another word for 'asshole'. 'Asshole' is another word for the guy you're dating.” (Which is either really unfair or totally on point, depending on the dude.)

Here's what Twitter has to say about how to improve your love life:

1. Don't Let Technology Get In The Way

2. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

3. Keep Some Mystery Alive

4. Have Fun Together

5. Don't Nitpick

6. Don't Forget Self Love

After 20 years of dating myself, I'd say that there are no hard and fast rules you should stick by (aside from basic respect) because every situation is different.
