How To Recreate This Blue Kat Von D Lip Color

by Alexa Tucker

Every time Kat Von D announces a new collection or palette, beauty aficionados around the internet collectively freak out over what's sure to be their favorite new product (guilty over here). So when Nancy McGuire, the VP of Kat Von D's product development team, posted a photo of a new metallic blue lip color in action earlier today, the internet got way excited about a potential new lipstick in the works. As it turns out, though, we already have everything we need to create the look.

One of the makeup artists in the original photo, which was taken by Kat Von D herself (selfie game strong), tipped us off. Steffanie Strazzere posted a photo on Instagram rocking what appears to be the exact same lip color, and shared how she created the cosmic color combination.

"On my lips is @katvondbeauty everlasting lipstick in 'echo' with 'blue saphyre' on top," she wrote in the caption. You may recall the excitement we all had over the announcement of the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick collection in December 2016, and it's safe to say the "blue saphyre" that Strazzere is referring to is the shimmery shade in Kat Von D's much-buzzed-about Alchemist Palette from November 2016. The multipurpose holographic shades can be used on your eyes, face, and in this case, lips.

Here's what the magic combo looks like:

The best news of all? Now that the hype has died down a bit, both products are ready to buy right now. Here's what you'll need.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Described as a satin navy blue, start by applying this liquid lipstick as a base.

Then, tap the Blue Saphyre shade over your deep blue base color (and start thinking of amazing ways to use the other three shades, too).

There's one remaining question, though — McGuire's caption reads, "I think everyone is excited about this one." She also uses the hashtag "#comingsoon." So, what does it mean? Now that the mystery of the lip color itself has been solved, is this referring to something bigger?

One theory: Kat Von D posted a different photo of the crew on Instagram on Thursday, writing, "Backstage with these babes. Can't wait to announce the @katvondbeauty Artistry Collective! Coming soon!!" We'll be waiting, KVD.
