"Pokemon Go" Has A Valentine's Day Special For You

Kids WB

If you're still trying to figure out your plans for Valentine's Day, worry not, because there is a new "Pokemon Go" Valentine's Day event here to help. "Pokemon Go's" Valentine's special runs from 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Feb. 8 and wraps up on 2 p.m ET on Feb. 15, giving you some room both before and after the holiday to enjoy the V Day perks.

To participate, you will of course need to have "Pokemon Go" installed on your mobile device, though you're eligible for all the fun whether you're a new or returning user in the game.

So, you're probably wondering: What exactly is the event, anyway? Like most of the events in "Pokemon Go," this is one you'll attend virtually and reap the benefits by way of playing the game. While you can certainly go to a "Pokemon Go" meetup, this event does not happen at a particular location; instead, you'll have a variety of cool options and upgrades available during the game that you wouldn't otherwise have in the app.

Let's break down some of the most intriguing Valentine's Day perks in this event. First, all "Pokemon Go" players can earn double their Buddy candy rate, which is great if you're running low on rare candy and want to power up. Additionally, if you haven't yet caught your fairy or pink Pokemon, you can get special spawn rates for these species. For example, there will be higher egg hatch rates for Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum pocket monsters.

And last but certainly not least, you'll have an increased operation time available for Lure modules. If you're a regular player of "Pokemon Go," you likely already know that lure modules normally last for 30 minutes at a time. During the V Day event, however, the lure modules will last you a whopping six hours! This is super cool if you want to advertise your preferred play areas or PokeStops.

Because what better way to make new friends than around Valentine's Day, when everybody is feeling in a good, friendly mood?
