The 'Defenders' Trailer Has An Awesome Soundtrack

by Lakecia Hammond

If you're one of the many, many people freaking out about The Defenders full trailer showing off the team with a familiar guitar riff in the background, you're probably trying to put a finger on the song you may have heard carrying on in the background. The song in The Defenders trailer should be familiar to many fans. Much like the heroes rallying up for Marvel, the '90s Nirvana tune salutes their differences in the ultimate call to action everyone's looking forward to this August on Netflix.

The original song, "Come As You Are," was written by Kurt Cobain, lead singer of the grunge band Nirvana. It was released as the second single from their March 1992 album, Nevermind, following their chart topper, "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which would've also been an equally fitting song to unite the diverse Marvel group with a common bond of resistance against their opponent. In this case, she goes by the name of Alexandra.

The song is featured in The Defenders trailer with a new score, but carries a distinct Nirvana sound that I grew up listening to in the '90s. We first heard this song playing throughout the teaser trailer for The Defenders last summer.

On August 18, we'll watch Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) unite their diverse strengths to rumble with a villain played by Sigourney Weaver, who's ready to fight back at all cost. Smell like team spirit?

Listen to the song over and over again to prep yourself. It looks like it's going to be a wild ride.
