It's no secret that President Donald Trump's cabinet selections have predominantly been white men. From his vice president, Mike Pence, to his senior adviser, Steve Bannon, the president has primarily surrounded himself with people who look just like him. Only three of his 15 appointments are either female or non-white: Ben Carson for Housing and Urban Development, Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary, and Elaine Chao for Transportation Secretary. And a viral tweet about Beyoncé describes Trump's cabinet's lack of diversity in the most unexpected, yet accurate way.

The tweet reads: "Sad that there are more black people in Beyoncé right now, than are in Trump's entire cabinet team." On the same day that Trump used an event for Black History Month to complain about how unfair the press has treated him and call CNN "fake news" again, Beyoncé blessed all of us with the news that she is pregnant with twins. Finally, some news to be happy about.

The Instagram announcement is now the most-liked photo of all time, as it should be. But the sad fact is that Beyoncé is carrying two black children and the president of the United States couldn't even put more than one black person in a 15-person cabinet to help him run the country.

According to Fortune, Trump's cabinet is the least diverse one in 36 years. This says a tremendous amount about who Trump is and what he values as a leader. When he accepted his presidential victory, he declared that he was going to be a president for all Americans. But if only a specific type of American (read: male, white) is represented in the most powerful positions of his administration, how will he understand what is important to Americans who don't resemble him?

Making matters worse, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer answered the public's concerns about diversity and lack of a Latino cabinet member by saying, "It's not just about skin color or ethnic heritage." What he didn't acknowledge is that by not giving other people a seat at the table, Trump is denying a voice to a huge portion of this country. Spicer also suggested that Trump will make an effort to diversify in other lower-level appointments. Of course there should be more diversity in the other appointments that Trump makes, but that doesn't mean that diversity isn't just as important in the highest level of the administration.

Unlike President Bill Clinton's effort to make his cabinet "look like America," Trump's cabinet seems to look only like himself and his friends, and it's very doubtful that will be good for America.
