Singer, songwriter, and Linkin Park's legendary frontman Chester Bennington died reportedly from suicide on Thursday, July 20, according to TMZ. (Bustle reached out to a rep for the band and to the LAPD, but did not receive an immediate response.) Fans of the artist and his band have taken to social media to express their condolences to his family and friends. And some also shared personal accounts of how Bennington's music truly impacted their lives — including Twitter user @MindyWhite, whose tweet below really captures how powerful Linkin Park's music was for the culture.

Those who are familiar with the singer know that he's had to battle a slew of distressing moments in his own personal life and has openly expressed his journey to recovery in multiple interviews. Throughout the years, Bennington has poured his deepest and darkest feelings into his lyrics, providing a sense of therapy and reassurance to everyone soaking in his music.

From creating a soundtrack to people's high school days to helping many cope with some pretty traumatic experiences with his lyrics, the general consensus all over the web shows that Bennington may have meant more to all of us than he could have ever imagined.

And a lot of other fans shared similar sentiments. Some even admitted that they don't know where they would be if they hadn't experienced the candidness of Linkin Park's tracks.

It's unclear what exactly led to Bennington committing suicide, but, in the wake of his loss, many used the opportunity to talk about the importance of caring for your mental health.

In a perfect world, Bennington's music would have served as his ideal form of therapy, seeing as it was so impactful for others. However, one thing is for sure now: he will be missed.
