Here's What's In The Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino

by Megan Grant

Unicorns are having a moment right now, so it's honestly not much of a surprise that after rumors about a unicorn-themed Frappuccino from Starbucks swirled last week, the drink was officially announced today, April 18. What's in the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino, you ask? Giggles, sunshine, and magic, obviously — plus a few other ingredients. The drink will hit participating stores in the United States, Canada, and Mexico starting tomorrow, April 19, for a limited time only — through April 23, to be exact. Unicorns are busy, people. They don't have time to bow to your frappuccino whims at all hours of the day or night.

The Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino truly is made of magic. Case in point: its changing flavors. According to a press release, it starts off purple and tastes sweet and fruity, but if you give it a stir, it becomes pink, tangy, and tart. Keep stirring and be amazed at its changing color and flavor.

The unicorn obsession is nothing new — what with unicorn beauty products, unicorn milkshakes (omgyes), and unicorn hair tutorials, we've pretty much hit peak unicorn — but the coffee giant's take on it certainly isn't to be missed. And since the Starbucks unicorn drink isn't here to stay, it'll be worth savoring the moment. It's not often a color-changing, flavor-changing, magically delicious, unicorn-inspired coffee beverage hits the market. (Starbucks: Go big or go home!)

Here's the breakdown of the dreamy drink.

1

A Blended Creme Frappuccino Base

The trademark Starbucks drink provides the base for this unicorn miracle. Note that this one uses the creme base, rather than the coffee one. That means there's no caffeine in it.

2

Pink Powder

A dash of pink powder is added into the drink, which I'm assuming, is responsible for some of the color- and flavor-changing magic that happens. Starbucks is no stranger to pink drinks, but this takes things to a whole new level.

3

Mango Syrup

The tropical stone fruit undoubtedly adds a delightfully sweet and fruity twist to the unicorn drink.

4

Sour Blue Drizzle

Plot twist! Balancing out the sweet side is a hint of something sour. What it is exactly, I don't really know. But honestly, who cares?

5

Vanilla Whipped Cream

No Frapp is complete without whipped cream on top. In this case, the unicorn sneezes on your drink, and that's where whipped cream comes from. (But not really. I totally just made that up.)

6

A Sprinkle Of Sweet Pink And Sour Blue Powder

This is like a party in your mouth. Just when you think the fun is over, the drink is topped off with more magical unicorn dust. Can't. Handle. All. The. Flavor.

A 12-ounce Tall Unicorn Frappuccino will cost about $4.25 to $4.95, depending on the market. Grab one while you can!
