'Riverdale' Fans Will Have To Wait For Season 2

While fingers are still crossed that The CW will bring back the Archie gang this coming fall, it seems like fans could be waiting a while for Riverdale's Season 2 premiere. The network revealed in March that Archie, Veronica, Betty, Jughead, and the rest would be back for another season, but haven't released the exact date of their return yet. Luckily, Riverdale's audience won’t have to wait too long for an answer. The network is expected to announce its fall schedule at its upfronts presentation on May 18, and if Riverdale isn't on it, it probably won't be back until 2018. Until then, there's plenty to gossip about: like how Clifford Blossom killed Jason, all the drama that’s going to go down in the Season 1 finale on May 11, and when Riverdale will return for Season 2.

UPDATE: On June 17, The Archie Comics official Twitter account announced that Riverdale Season 2 will premiere on Oct. 11.

After months of waiting, Riverdale's core mystery was finally solved in the May 4 episode. Clifford definitely killed his son, but now the big question is why? Unfortunately, that secret may have died with him. It’s still unclear whether Clifford killed himself or Cheryl and Penelope killed him, but regardless, the story isn’t over yet. In fact, it seems Clifford’s death is just the beginning considering there were drugs stuffed in those maple syrup barrels.

Hopefully, in the season finale, fans will find out why Clifford killed his own child. If not, that's something I'll need in the show’s sophomore season, among many other things:

A New Murder Mystery

Katie Yu/The CW

Now that Jason's has been solved, I need a new murder mystery in Riverdale. There’s nothing better than a whodunit, and the gang needs new mysteries to uncover. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for our next victim.

Parent Flashbacks

Katie Yu/The CW

Some crazy stuff definitely happened back when all the kids' parents went to school together, and it would be pretty awesome to see some of that played out on screen. Give me some Hermione Lodge, Alice Cooper, and Fred Andrews flashbacks next season. There’s bound to be some super juicy gossip in their shared past.

Polly's Twins

Diyah Pera/The CW

I honestly can't tell how much time has passed in this show, but shouldn't Polly have the babies at some point in the near future? Next season should include the birth of the twins at some point, right?

More Jughead

Katie Yu/The CW

There’s no such thing as too much Cole Sprouse. Next season needs even more Jughead and his family drama.

A Jellybean Cameo

Dean Buscher/The CW

Speaking of Jughead family drama, his sister Jellybean should make an appearance in Season 2. And if I can't get Jellybean, maybe a cameo from Jughead’s dog, Hotdog.

Jason Blossom As A Zombie

CW/Screenshot

There’s a huge theory out there (which showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa addressed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly) that next season of Riverdale will include zombies. I’m not sure I want a whole season of zombies, but I could do a spooky Halloween episode where Sabrina The Teenage Witch casts a spell for Cheryl to bring back Jason for the night.

A Plot For Josie

Katie Yu/The CW

All I know about Josie right now is that she’s the leader of The Pussycats and her dad is super unimpressed with her singing skills. I would love for her plot line to expand more in Season 2 and actually show her skeletons, since we know everyone in this town has a closet full of them.

Cheryl Joins The Good Guys

Katie Yu/The CW

In most shows there’s a group of good guys who work together and people pop in and out of the group (kind of like the “Scooby Gang” from Buffy). In every show like that, the outsider or bad guy joins the group at some point and Riverdale should be no different. I imagine that Cheryl will join the group sooner rather than later.

FP Released From Prison

Katie Yu/The CW

I know he's done some sketchy stuff and he’s not that innocent, but his father confessed to keep Jughead safe. Now I want to see him free and Jughead back home.

Hal Cooper's Downfall

CW/Screenshot

No one likes Hal Cooper. Honestly, what kind of dad doesn't tell you when you’re having sex with your second cousin? Someone kill him already. He’s the worst.

Ms. Grundy's Return

CW/Screenshot

Seriously, what happened to Ms. Grundy? I felt like there was a whole plot line there that they just kind of ignored and she slipped away from the show. Shouldn’t she come back at some point?

A New Couple To Ship

Katie Yu/The CW

I don’t mind Archie and Veronica or Betty and Jughead, but I would love a couple to really root for. We need some serious romance vibes next season.

Let the countdown to Season 2 of the CW's begin.
