Paul Rudd Isn’t Playing The Coolest Guy In ‘WHAS: Ten Years Later’

The Wet Hot American Summer gang is coming back to Netflix again, for Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, premiering Aug. 4. The gang from the 2001 cult comedy movie hit made their first triumphant return to Netflix in 2015 with the prequel, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. Now, the reunion that was teased in the original movie is finally coming to fruition, thanks to the new series. Of course the Camp Firewood crew is back, but there are also some new campers and counselors in the mix, including a camp cool kid who reminds Andy a lot of himself. Who plays Deegs in Wet Hot American Summer?

According to Deadline, Deegs, played by Skyler Gisondo, is the new bad boy counselor. Basically, 10 years have passed at Camp Firewood, and Jeremy “Deegs” Deegenstein is the new Andy — not that anyone could really replace Paul Rudd. Andy and most of the characters from the original film are returning to their old stomping grounds, still expecting to be the big dogs. A trailer for the series shows Andy and Deegs facing off. Andy obviously doesn't like the idea of being dethroned. To be honest, he doesn't take many things well.

I mean, who can top "teen" angst like that? Deegs has some big shoes to fill. But, Gisondo is up for the challenge. At 21, he's already an experienced actor who you may recognize from some of his previous performances. Here are some of the places you could have seen Firewood's new stud before:

'Santa Clarita Diet'

Gisondo starred on another 2017 Netflix series ,Santa Clarita Diet, as the neighbor kid who helped Drew Barrymore's character navigate her new life as a suburban housewife/zombie.

'Vacation'

Viewers probably recognize Gisondo from his role of James Griswold, Rusty's son, in the 2015 Vacation reboot. So, he's no stranger to the world of beloved comedy franchises.

'Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb'

Gisondo was also part of another franchise, the Night of the Museum films, where he played Nick Daley, Larry's (Ben Stiller) son.

'The Amazing Spiderman' Movies

Gisondo played Howard Stacy, Gwen Stacy's brother, in the Emma Stone/Andrew Garfield Spiderman films.

'Psych'

Psych often shows flashbacks to little Shawn and little Gus. While the actors who played the younger versions of the main characters changed a few times, one of Gisondo's earlier roles was a young Shawn.

'The Bill Engvall Show'

Gisondo got his start on the same sitcom that also launched Jennifer Lawrence's career, The Bill Engvall Show. Lawrence played Engvall's teen daughter and Gisondo filled the role of wise-cracking kid brother.

He used to rule his domain, but Andy may have finally met his Camp Firewood match in Skyler Gisondo's Deegs.
