The list of celebrities attending Donald Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20 isn't very long, which means that any stars that do appear will be under intense scrutiny. While Trump hasn't drawn many famous supporters during his campaign, or as president-elect, several loyal Republicans have decided to accept him into his post. So why is Caitlyn Jenner attending the inauguration? The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star's rep confirmed her attendance to Bustle. Jenner has long supported the Republican party, so the fact that she is attending the inauguration isn't majorly surprising.

Back in Aug. 2016, she appeared on HBO's Any Given Wednesday and said,

I have not outwardly supported anybody. I am here to help... the entire Republican party do a better job when it comes to LBGT issues.

While the reality star and Olympian has not outwardly supported Trump, she is still a stout Republican, and his leadership is not about to change that.

According to People, who first reported Jenner's inauguration attendance, "Caitlyn has been a Republican all her life and she sees this as an opportunity to represent and defend the LGBTQ community within the party." But can she really make a difference to the views of the Republican party leaders?

With her reality show I Am Cait, Jenner was intent on highlighting issues affecting the LBGTQ community in America. However, it often seems as though the Republican party's politics are in stark contrast with her personal life and the lives of members of the transgender community. For instance, the current influx of transphobic "bathroom bills" in the United States is a huge injustice for individual freedom, which is likely to get worse throughout 2017.

Back in June 2016, Jenner spoke about Trump to STAT and said,

Trump seems to be very much for women. He seems very much behind the LGBT community because of what happened in North Carolina with the bathroom issue. He backed the LGBT community. But in Trump’s case, there’s a lot more unknowns.

However, the president-elect's flip-flopping when it comes to Republican issues has already shown that the he's actually in favor of "bathroom bills." However, as Jenner is attending the inauguration to stand up for the transgender community, perhaps the reality star has a future in politics herself. Her passion for LGBTQ issues is exactly what the government needs right now.
