If you're watching the 2017 Billboard Music Awards red carpet, you might be disappointed to find out that Selena Gomez might not be there. But wait, why isn't Selena Gomez at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards? The "Bad Liar" singer is nominated for an award in the Top Social Artist, but it appears as though she's not in Las Vegas to attend the awards show at the T-Mobile Arena. There was no sign of the singer or her beau The Weeknd on the event's red — I mean, pink — carpet, and Gomez hasn't made an appearance during the awards ceremony as of yet. So, where could she be?
The nominee for Top Social Artist hasn't indicated much about her whereabouts on social media, either. Gomez's most recent posts on Instagram are videos about her new single "Bad Liar." Her latest tweet on Twitter was posted on May 18: A thank you to musician David Byrne, who complimented "Bad Liar." Byrne tweeted, "I really like the song...and her performance too." Also on May 18, she tweeted a red heart emoji at the music news site Pitchfork in a retweet of their review of "Bad Liar."
As of right now, Gomez's whereabouts this weekend seem to be a mystery, so I would guess that she's not in Las Vegas for the BBMAs, sadly.
Earlier this month, Gomez and The Weeknd charmed fans and melted hearts by attending the Met Gala together, looking dapper and showing off some adorable PDA. Unfortunately, their cuteness as a couple was missing from the 2017 Billboard Music Awards carpet this time around. I guess there's always next year.
