Emma Watson is a red carpet pro. She grew up in front of the camera and intimately knows the power and influence she wields in the fashion space. That’s why when she decided to use her platform to advocate for eco-friendly fashion, the world took notice. And Emma Watson’s sustainable fashion on the red carpet is still being discussed today.

Back in 2017, when on a press tour to promote Beauty and the Beast, Watson started an Instagram account that highlighted all her sustainable outfits. She tagged brands in each photo to raise awareness for designers — established and emerging — who have made it their mission to support the cause.

She wore a gown constructed from discarded fabric by Ronald van der Kemp. She highlighted the importance of shopping vintage, choosing archival pieces from Ralph Lauren and Ossie Clark. And famously, for her appearance at the Met Gala in 2016, Watson chose a bustier and skirt set from Calvin Klein that was made of recycled plastic bottles.

Coming from a Hollywood legend whose elegant and effortless style is copied by millions, her support of the sustainable style movement makes a huge impact. Ahead, find Emma Watson’s best sustainable red carpet looks.
