When Will We Get Confirmation If It's MH370?

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 took off from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014, and headed towards Beijing, China. The plane disappeared somewhere over the Indian Ocean, never reaching its final destination. Since then, the missing plane has been labeled one of the world's biggest unsolved mysteries. Authorities couldn't find an ounce of the plane's or passengers' remains, and the search was slowed in March, 2015, a year after its disappearance. On Wednesday, July 29, an airplane wing part was found on the coast of Reunion, an island near Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. But it's not yet confirmed whether this part is in fact related to the missing plane. When will it be confirmed whether the wing is a part of MH370? It's a good question, and right now, we don't have a lot of answers.

CNN spoke to Adjutant Christian Retournat, a member of the French Air Force in Reunion. He told the website on Wednesday, "It is way too soon to say whether or not it is MH370. We just found the debris this morning in the coast of Saint Andre." Saint Andre is the sixth-largest commune of on Reunion, which is a French "overseas department." Other French overseas departments include French Guiana and Martinique.

Once the plane is transported to the town of Saint Andre, authorities will be looking for the serial number on the wing. Every piece of the aircraft has a serial number, reported CNN, specifically for situations such as these. Once investigators find the serial number, they will contact Boeing, who will determine if it matches that of MH370. As for when that might happen, CNN says it's too early to guess. This case is unprecedented.
