Dita Von Teese On Her Signature Style

by Jessica Willingham

If you think I'd turn down beauty advice from a woman who rocks Swarovski-studded pasties and stilettos on stage while twirling around in a human-sized martini glass, you'd be mistaken. In an interview with Style, the famous Dita Von Teese reveals why always wears red lipstick and all kinds of beauty secrets, all of which you can find in her new book "Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide To Eccentric Glamour."

The buxom burlesque dancer's new book is hitting shelves December 1 this year, and is basically a tell-all from her very own vanity. She touches on all aspects of beauty, from plastic surgery to nipple hair, and she pulls no punches when it comes to owning personal style. She even comments on her own signature red lips and how she maintains the look, even when she's feeling less-than-glamorous.

"I love makeup. I love lipstick," she told Style.com. "Nobody ever sees me undone, but there are tricks to it. I’m always wearing my red lipstick, but it’s usually paired with my big sunglasses so that you can’t see that there’s nothing else on. And a neat chignon, which is something I believe in. You should teach yourself to do one thing that makes you feel good that only takes five minutes to get out of the house. That will make your day better. I talk about how I simplify things and how it appears that I have a polished look, but what I really have is a carefully practiced look that I can do in mere minutes and how to go about that."

Preach, girl. I wear lipstick when I'm working, even if it's from home. For you, it may be brushing on a coat of mascara or always keeping those brows on point. Dita's advice? Pick one beauty routine that makes you feel like a boss, and do it for yourself, everyday.

Here's a look at how committed Dita is to her signature style.

Red lipstick is a performance in and of itself, but paired with a butterfly bustier? Get outta town.

When kicking it country, one shouldn't forget the retro red lipstick.

Bring the lipstick and the jewels to the bubble bath. Don't forget the wine, either.
