14 Celebs Who Have Tried Online Dating

by Michelle McGahan

Next time it's 2 a.m., you're several glasses of Prosecco deep and cannot for the life of you decide whether you should swipe right or left (IT'S A TOUGH CHOICE, OK?!), remember that celebrities everywhere are probably facing the exact same dilemma at the exact same moment. Because as online dating gets more and more popular (and all your friends can't stop raving about whatever new dating app is the best), just know that your fave stars are right there with you, swiping away and probably facing just as many jerks out there as you are. How comforting! In all seriousness, more and more celebs are online dating, and that, for one, makes me feel just a little better about my life. Because if A-listers all around the world have to resort to the Internet to find love, well, that just makes me more and more like a *~*celebrity*~* (hair flip emoji).

Seriously. Celebs all across the Hollywood spectrum — from Hilary Duff to Martha Stewart to Halle Berry to Andy Cohen (and many, many more) — are trying their hand at online dating, and their love-hate relationship with these apps go in cycles, just like the rest of ours. And while some have had amazing experiences (One met her fiance!) others have come screaming back after nightmarish encounters, like Ricki Lake's straight disaster of an online BF. But isn't that the beauty of online dating?! Yes, yes it is.

1. Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff's "Sparks" music video is basically an ad for Tinder, since the bubbly singer and fashion icon (I think I drool over every outfit this woman wears) features her going on real-life Tinder dates. After the vid, though, Duff revealed that she's no longer using the app.

2. Katy Perry

Katy Perry may be all happy with John Mayer now, but there was a time (during an off-period with the musician) that she was all about dating apps instead. "Uh, yes I am, hello," Perry told Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club when asked if she was on Tinder. "I'm really deep on Tinder so I don't have a whole lot of time."

3. Adele

After breaking up with the guy who inspired 21 (and before she met her current beau), Adele tried her hand at the terrifying world of online dating. But because she's famous, she couldn't exactly include a photo of herself — the kiss of death for any relationship, really. "I signed up for eHarmony," Adele admitted in her memoir. "I can't put a photo of myself, so I don't get any e-mails!"

4. Mariah Carey

Peace out, Nick Cannon, helloooo Match.com. This is basically Mariah Carey's motto in her "Infinity" music vid, in which she joins the online dating site. "I hope every woman who is single and listens to this song goes out and finds her infinity, whether on Match or the traditional way," the Elusive Chanteuse said in a statement.

5. Jenelle Evans

The Teen Mom 2 star not only met her ex-fiance Nathan Griffith online, she recently turned to Tinder once they broke up.

6. Andy Cohen

Andy Cohen is hardcore pro-Tinder. And the Watch What Happens Live host has made some pretty valid points about the app, telling People, "I like it. It's fun. You know, it's to me: Where am I going to meet an architect who lives in Brooklyn besides Tinder at this point?" he revealed. "It's the modern-day singles bar."

7. Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher may be happily married to Mila Kunis and the proud papa of baby Wyatt, but that doesn't mean he didn't use Tinder in the past — although most likely to satisfy his techie curiosity than do anything unsavory (much to the disappointment of anyone who swiped right, I'm sure).

8. Halle Berry

Halle Berry basically admitted to catfishing people in "chatrooms" (how '90s-era AOL of her). "I have gone online before in search of anonymity and an attempt to leave celebrity out of it and just have a normal chat," the actress told the BBC in 2007. "I just never disclosed that I was Halle Berry."

But when she actually tried to come clean and reveal her true identity, that didn't go so well either. As a matter of fact, people just didn't believe her. "I was just trying to chat anonymously and just be another person in the chatroom having a conversation," she explained. "When I decided to say: 'Oh by the way, the person you've been chatting with for a week is me, Halle Berry,' they thought I was just some kook. They were like: 'Right, sure, get out of here.' They didn't really believe me at that point. So chatting hasn't gone that well for me."

9. Ricki Lake

It's an age-old story: Girl goes online. Girl meets boy. Boy turns out to be an actual psycho. "I found this narcissist online and started a whirlwind relationship where I was delusional," Ricki Lake candidly revealed of her online romance gone wrong in an interview with Newsweek. "I was with a guy who was a total user and liar. He was English and considered himself a poet. He was more charismatic than physically beautiful but I became infatuated with him very quickly. I was out of my mind in some ways. I wanted it so badly I lost all clarity."

10. Lily Allen

Lily Allen is totally psyched about Tinder, which she uses to meet new friends while on tour. (Seriously. She actually has a husband and children). According to E!, her bio states: "I'm a touring artist wanting to meet people abroad who don't want to talk about the industry formally known as entertainment."

11. Martha Stewart

You can actually see Martha Stewart's Match.com profile for yourself. Her username is "thegoodlonglife," her profile photo is a stunning professional shot, and she's upfront and honest about her celebrity: "You may recognize me from my pictures," she wrote. "Yes, it's really me."

12. Lindsay Lohan

If you're one of those people who lives in fear that you're going to awkwardly run across a relative on a dating site, just know that this already happened to Lindsay Lohan and she survived. Yep, the actress ran across her brother Michael on Tinder and screenshot his profile for the world to see. In doing so, she pretty much also outed herself as a Tinder user, so there's that, too.

13. Pretty Much Every Athlete At The 2014 Sochi Olympics

Snowboarder Jamie Anderson proclaimed that "Tinder in the Olympic Village is next level. It's all athletes! In the mountain village it's all athletes," she told Us Weekly during the 2014 Winter Olympics. "It's hilarious. There are some cuties on there."

14. Carrie Ann Inaba

Carrie Ann Inaba literally met her fiancé online, so she just straight-up wins. "I met him on eHarmony," she revealed on Access Hollywood of her husband-to-be, Jesse Sloan. "I was dating all these younger guys. I was like, 'Maybe I need to change it up a little.'" Considering he later popped the question on live TV, I'll say that she made the right choice.

Now, if you want to meet a celeb yourself, you'll just have to keep swiping and clicking. It can't take that long to find one, right?
