by Lindsey Rose Black

With school starting up again and your beauty budget likely running low, it's time to get creative with what you already own. You won't believe these 9 unexpected beauty hacks using household items in your fridge, pantry, and bathroom cabinet. Time to go on a scavenger hunt around your house for easy beauty tricks you never even knew existed!

Naturally, a hack should be easy to do and I promise all of these are a breeze. Whether you're dealing with a shirt stain, broken nails, or even a small burn, these tips have you covered. Ready to become the master of simple, quirky beauty hacks? Read on!

1. Pepto Bismol Mask For Breakouts

OK, I haven't tried this so I can't vouch for it, but the lovely writers at wonder how to claim the pink medicine will clear breakouts if slathered on like a face mask and left on your skin for ten minutes. The medicine contains salicylic acid, aspirin, and beta-hydroxy, so technically it makes sense that it would work! #Cray

2. Tea Bags Over Puffy Eyes

If you're recovering from a night of too many whiskey sours (been there, know the struggle), Cosmopolitan suggests placing cooled green tea bags over your eyes as a super simple way to reduce puffiness and help you look fresh fast.

3. Olive Oil Makeup Remover

Waterproof mascara and eyeliner are no match for the power of olive oil! Drizzle over a cotton pad and wipe away your stubborn makeup with ease.

4. Transparent Tape To Tackle Glitter

Got a little heavy-handed when applying glitter eye shadow? No worries, All For Fashion Design has the solution! Remove the extra from the rest of your face with a small piece of transparent tape. Bam.

5. Yogurt To Soothe Small Burns

Accidentally burn your neck or fingers with a curling iron? Oh, the things we do for beauty. To soothe the burn quickly, All Fo rFashion Design recommends coating it in plain yogurt until the pain subsides.

6. Fight Frizzy Hair With A T-Shirt

According to Bella Box, drying your hair with a T-shirt instead of a towel will prevent frizz. The shirt's smoother surface will create less friction (and therefore frizz) while your hair dries. Cool!

7. Banana Peels To Whiten Teeth

Say what?! Style Caster promises rubbing the inside of a banana peel across your teeth a few times a week and then brushing well will whiten just as much as expensive strips! I don't know about you, but I'm trying that one ASAP.

8. Match Box Nail File

If you're an outdoorsy girl like me that loves to camp, this tip is for you. Style Caster also had a great idea for chipped nails. You can use the rough side of a match box to file them down until you can do a better job with a proper nail file later. So. Wise.

9. Baking Soda For Stains

This tip comes from my granny, so it's been tested like, seven million times. Next time you accidentally spill anything on your shirt, rinse with cool water, and sprinkle with baking soda. Let the shirt sit for five minutes, then pat away baking soda with a cool towel and cold water. Prepare to be amazed. (Bob's Red Mill Pure Baking Soda, $1.99, www.swansonvitamins.com)
