It probably is not surprising that Colbert is a favorite among celebs. After all, the man is well-versed in pop culture and has interviewed many big names in the entertainment industry on The Colbert Report, so it would be near impossible for him not to get in good with some of his famous visitors. And considering Colbert already has an impressive lineup of celebrity guests ready for the first couple of episodes of his brand new show, it's almost certain that many famous faces are eager to see how it all plays out with Colbert behind the camera again, but this time not in character. When paying tribute to the end of Colbert's character on The Colbert Report, Reynolds said to Vulture, "I love Stephen Colbert. I love everything that he’s done. He’s a huge trailblazer, so to see him go, to depart that character, is a little sad. I’m going to miss it."

2. James Corden

The new Late Late Show host had similar kind things to say about Colbert in the Vulture tribute piece. He said,

I love the man. He’s been very kind to me because we’re both going to be in this weird two hours of TV. We’ll try our best, you know. We’ve had a lot of chats about how I’ll be a counterpoint to his show and et cetera. He’s amazing. He’s just the best. He’s smart, funny, bright. He’s incredibly handsome. That’s it.

3. James Franco

Franco and Colbert are so tight that the talk show host allowed the actor to interview him on The Colbert Report about his new role on The Late Show. Unfortunately, Franco wasn't able to get him to break character like he wanted to. But hey, at least he tried, right?

The comedienne got sentimental with Vulture when Colbert was about to leave. She reflected on a serious moment on the show, saying,

I have so many favorite moments, and I'm going to say one that probably won't ultimately be my favorite, but when he spoke about his mother passing, it was a genuine moment. That's not what's brilliant about him, but, it was really special to me. I thought it was beautiful, and I just think he's a really special person.

5. Jennifer Garner

Garner is so close with Colbert that she actually used to babysit for him. Aww! They were guest stars on Spin City together back in the day, so that's how the pals met. Obviously, they hit it off!

6. Michael J. Fox

Fox had a fair share of humorous moments with Colbert, including crashing his Colbert Report desk. But for the Vulture tribute piece, Fox got serious on his admiration for the host:

I don’t know if people really appreciate how brilliant he was. To be able to ask a question, think of an answer, and then convert that into his character and put it back out in an instant. I don’t know anyone else who can do that. So I hope he can maintain a certain aspect of that on the new show.

I'm sure all of these celebs, along with many, many more fans, will be tuning in on Sept. 8!
