Ten Questions To Ask Siri Right Now

by Chris Tognotti

So how are you enjoying iOS 9? OK, sorry if I'm being presumptive — I do realize that not everybody is an Apple owner. But for those who are, the latest OS update has been sweeping through users pretty quickly. According to TechCrunch, iOS 9's adoption rate was already at 12 percent just one day after it launched, which is a pretty solid pace. As such, if you're an Apple fan, you've probably already scoured the Internet for tips, tricks and tweaks. But whatever happened to the personal touch? Here are 10 questions you need to ask Siri right now.

There's nothing quite like settling in for a chat with an old friend. Siri first debuted back in 2011, but frankly, it feels like it's been around even longer. I say "it" because despite it's default voice here in the States (a female speaking with an American accent), there's actually a variety of voice options you can set — a range of languages, genders and dialects. I usually go with a British-accented English-speaking female voice, myself, although Australian has its charms.

So why not pick your preferred Siri settings (you can also set it to respond automatically to "Hey Siri" while your device is charging, all accessible through the "Siri" options within the "General" section of your Settings), and fire off some questions? Here are ten possibilities I ran through for your benefit ...

1. "Siri, How Old Are You?"

Oh geez. Um, sorry about that.

2. "Siri, What's Your Favorite Color?"

Could this be any more vague? You may as well have said "indigo."

3. "Siri, Are You A Feminist?"

I mean, I thought we were having a conversation here. It's important that I get a sense of who you are if we're going to make this thing work. So ...

4. "Siri, Can We Talk About You?"

Okay, great! So, like I was asking ...

5. "Siri, Are You A Feminist?"

Okay, this is clearly some kind of a sore spot for you. I'll let it go for now, but you really shouldn't fall into the trap of viewing feminism as a loaded word or a controversial concept that you have to dodge.

6. "Siri, What Are You Made Of?"

It feels as though I'm not getting very straight answers from you, if I'm being honest. There's a certain lack of mutuality here.

7. "Siri, Why Are You Being Evasive With Me?"

Yes, Siri, I am obviously talking to you.

8. "Siri, Why Are You Derailing Everything I Ask?"

OK. Clearly, things got off on the wrong foot. Let's just wipe the slate clean and start over, alright?

9. "Siri, Are You A Republican?"

Oh, well, that's nice. In that case ...

10. "Siri, Can You Recite Me A Poem?"

Fine, I get the picture. Forget it.
