Donald Trump Cancels 'Kimmel' Appearance

If you were one of the fans holding out for Donald Trump’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night, I am sorry to report that the Don has officially cancelled. That’s right: Donald Trump stood up Jimmy Kimmel on his own TV show. So what was behind the decision to cancel last minute? Of course, we’ll never know for sure, but there has been a decent amount of comedic beef brewing between Jimmy Kimmel and Donald Trump for the length of Trump’s presidential race. Sure, Kimmel’s jokes have been just that, jokes, and mostly all in good fun, but maybe Trump took some of the sketches about him over the years a little too personally.

As a result of the cancellation, Kimmel will have to rearrange a few guests. He told Howard Stern in an interview that Trump cancelled at the last minute, saying that there was a conflict with a political event. But, because I don’t have access to Donald Trump’s filofax, there’s no way of knowing whether or not this is the real reason behind the change of plans.

Instead I’m left to wonder. And to dig up as much dirt as I can find between the comedian and the politician. The likely thing here is that Trump had a conflict and had to rearrange his schedule to fit, but as a world-class gossipmonger and first-class daydreamer, I like to believe it has to do with one of these classic sketches.

1. Kimmel’s Security Guard Said Some Pretty Nasty Things About Him

Granted, they were in Spanish so the candidate probably couldn’t understand them, but I’m sure this moment didn’t help heal their relationship.

2. Kimmel Made Fun Of His Vocabulary

Maybe a thesaurus exchanged between friends would have been a better way to broach this subject?

3. He Had Josh Groban Sing His Tweets

Is it wrong that I think they sound kind of beautiful sung with that voice?

4. He Made Fun Of Him With A Fake Campaign Video

It’s funny ‘cause it’s true.

Whatever happened to make Donald Trump cancel his appearance is still unknown, but this last minute change of plans is sure to disappoint fans. I guess we'll just have to watch these videos over and over again so we can pretend it's like Trump is there.
