Sandra Bullock Brings The Ruffle Hem Dress Back

by Eliza Florendo

When you're Sandra Bullock, you'd actually have to try pretty hard to look bad. Always elegant and always on point, Sandra Bullock wore a ruffle hem dress to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, bringing back one of our favorite trends from our childhood. The ruffle hem pretty much ruled my elementary school days, but it somehow started feeling super juvenile once I entered middle school, and eventually high school.

But — as all trends come in cycles — it came back with a vengeance in 2013 and 2014, taking a hold of sleeves and collars instead, leaving the bottom ruffle hem in the dust. Enter Sandra Bullock, who shows us just how to wear the ruffle hem like a grown up.

Bullock wore a navy, white, and black Jonathan Simkhai dress, cinched it at the waist. The fitted dress featured white lace-like details, and of course, the iconic ruffle hem in a mesh-type material. She topped off her look with Stuart Weitzman strappy heels, and a few simple accessories. Her gorgeous brown locks were kept down, with a small section pinned back, and her makeup was kept super natural. Talk about effortlessly chic!

Perhaps what makes Bullock's ruffle hem so cool and updated is its length and material — say goodbye to cotton, and say hello to an edgier texture.

Plus, the material shows off a little leg, keeping the whole dress from looking too demure. It was definitely a playful addition that elevated her entire look.
