How To Recreate Victoria’s Secret Angel Makeup

by Jessica Willingham

The Victoria's Secret Annual Fashion Show is full of bedazzled bras, outrageous shoes, and singing icons. But it's also a look at some of the freshest faces of makeup — glowing complexions, pinky nude lips, and fluffy lashes dominate the runway. Here's how to get Victoria's Secret angel makeup at home.

The VS Fashion Show is about the lights, lingerie, and musical performances. It's not supposed to be about outrageous makeup, so the angels are usually looking fresh-faced and pretty but never over-the-top with a smoky eye or bright, unusual lips. This dewy, glowing, and natural look is perfect for any occasion: the office, brunch, or even a date. It brings out your natural beauty without caking on the foundation, so it takes less time as well. Win, win.

Lead VS Fashion Show makeup artist Dick Page told Teen Vogue, "We’re doing light-handed makeup. Nothing is flat, nothing is dull, nothing is graphic, and there are no solid lines.” According to Page, there is no contouring on these already golden goddesses. “My secret weapon is a red cheek color,” he said. "I do it before anything else, even foundation. You have to warm up the skin on their faces, because their bodies are tan.”

Here's how to recreate the magic.

1. With Drugstore Products

Yep, you can recreate this famous makeup look with affordable products. The most important thing is to not go overboard with any one product or application — it's meant to be a soft look.

2. For A Peachy Glow

This warmer take on the VS makeup look is perfect for winter, and way easier than caking on the contour. Simply mix a bronzing BB cream in with your foundation to achieve a glow.

3. For A Soft, Smoky Eye

If you want a more natural, wearable smoky eye like the angels, be sure to blend your products well. Use a tapered blending brush in windshield-wiper motions.

Sigma Beauty E345 Tapered Blending Brush, $16.00, sigmabeauty.com

4. For A Luminous Shine

VS loves a luminous look. You can achieve that with a highlighting primer, or lightly dusting a soft highlight under your eyes and across your cheekbones.

L'Oreal Paris Magic Lumi Primer, $11.66, drugstore.com

5. For A Pinkish Glow

Nothing matte to see here, not even on the lips. A girlish, pink gloss tops all the models pouts and works perfectly with the rest of the look.

NYX Cosmetics Butter Gloss in Eclair, $5.00, drugstore.com

6. For Long, Fluffy Lashes

Fluffy lashes are a big part of the VS signature look. Coat yours with a single coat of mascara before applying falsies. Remember — let the glue get a little tacky before trying to apply.
