Ricky Gervais’ 2016 Golden Globes Outfit Was Easy

by Jen Marie

Aggressive, generally politically incorrect, controversial, or simply hilarious — call his comedy styling what you will. But Ricky Gervais at the 2016 Golden Globes means we're getting a different kind of host; and regardless of your opinion of his humor, he was dressed impeccably. Looking back, Gervais certainly brought a polished, unique sense of style to his previous hosting duties in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Take, for example, the iridescent red suit with black detailing he wore while hosting the 2012 Golden Globes. The look, much like the man wearing it, was bold, vibrant, and pretty mischievous. This year, Gervais chose a much more classic black suit with gorgeous detailing, and some fun, iridescent blue glasses.

Gervais walked onto the red carpet amidst some controversy and noted surprise due to a history of negative Golden Globe hosting reviews. The actor, however, has shared his excitement with The Hollywood Reporter in regard to the event. "It’s fun. It’s in 215 countries around the world, about 200 million people watch it, which is very irresistible to a comedian," he told the publication. "It’s a challenge. I always write my own jokes, I can say what I want — and it’s live." And in the fashion department, our evening's host has portrayed his enthusiasm handsomely as well.

Gervais is looking confident, calm, and happily ready to host.

Of course, earlier today, Gervais made his move to get his offending out of the way before the festivities even began with a topless tweet.

Stunning, Mr. Gervais, really.
