Twitter Reacts To Oscar Isaac's Golden Globes Win

by Katherine Cusumano

It wasn't for Poe Dameron, but Oscar Isaac has finally been recognized for the stellar actor he is. On Sunday, Isaac won Best Actor at the Golden Globes for the TV Miniseries or Movie category. (OK, maybe not finally recognized— this is his second Golden Globe nomination.) But, Isaac, who stars in Show Me A Hero playing Nick Wasicsko — the Yonkers, NY mayor who advocates for low-income housing in the city — was deservedly recognized for his role in the HBO miniseries. And Twitter has reacted to Isaac's Golden Globes win in predictably outsized style, with fans taking to the social media site to express their adulation for the man who, as New York Magazine's The Cut recently wrote, has been nearly unanimously named "The Internet's Boyfriend." (The Cut already made that joke on Twitter, too.)

Show Me A Hero was, admittedly, not Oscar Isaac's most visible role last year. That probably goes to Star Wars or Ex Machina — or literally anything else. But Isaac's win at the Golden Globes Sunday night is kind of a thirst win on behalf of the Internet. Plus, it was our first Isaac sighting all night (right, like you weren't also looking out for him on the red carpet), and even if the sighting was just seconds on screen, it's undoubtedly one of the high points of the show, and Twitter agrees.
