Olivia Wilde's 2016 GG Hair Is Super Sneaky

by Amanda Richards

When Olivia Wilde hit the 2016 Golden Globes, her look blew everyone away, as usual. She's a particularly rare type of beauty with flawless red carpet style, and her gowns never cease to amaze. This year, she rolled up to the ceremony with husband Jason Sudeikis, looking absolutely stunning in a sparkly maroon gown with a plunging neckline.

However, the real highlight of Wilde's look was her hair, which was perfectly tousled and romantic, cascading just past her shoulders in a tumble of soft waves. But there was more: Wilde had a secret ponytail in the back of her hair, loosely wrapped and making me realize what it really means to have hair that's perfectly imperfect.

Wilde's hairstylist for the event, L'Oreal Paris Consulting Hair Expert Mara Roszak, explained the inspiration behind the look via email to Bustle. Olivia’s look was all about modern and sexy, but with a little bit of a twist," she says. "To best complement her dress, we wanted to keep hair behind the shoulders, so thought a super cool, effortless low ponytail was the way to go.”

The hair totally works with this silhouette, and there's something refreshing about seeing a relaxed ponytail on an A-lister at a black tie event. Here's the view from the front:

And just when you thought it couldn't get better, here's that perfectly tousled pony in the back:

If you found yourself freaking out a little about Wilde's unconventional, amazing look, don't worry: You're not alone.

Who knew that such a tiny, hidden ponytail could inspire so much positive response?
