Is John Galliano off the hook?

After his anti-Semitic comments two years ago in Paris, John Galliano is finally being welcomed back into the fashion community after a stint in rehab and copious apologies. But do consumers forgive him? We popped into boutiques in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to find out.

"I'm all about second chances."

"I believe in redemption. He seems willing to redeem himself by reaching out to the community that he's offended. I'm all about second chances. If he wasn't making the effort, then I'd give him the boot." –Sam, 20, Mini Mini Market

"I wouldn't forgive him or purchase his designs."

"I wouldn't forgive him or purchase his designs for ethical reasons. There are a lot of great designers out there, and if you're outwardly going to speak about a particular group of people and be a bigot then, no, I'm not going to support you. After all, the best way to hurt someone is in their pocket, right?" –Michele, 27, b. conte

"How long can you hold a grudge?"

"Everybody makes mistakes. I view his work as separate from his personal life. I always feel that way with musicians, artists, designers. He's apologized. He's gone to rehab. I think, at this point, how long can you hold a grudge? Obviously it was wrong, but if there is something he designs that I like, I wouldn't be like, 'Oh, well he did that thing.' Everybody deserves second changes." –Jaclyn, 24, Lavai Maria

"I support him."

"I think that with any art form there has to be some separation from the person who creates it and the artist themselves. You have to not look at his fashion as him. Regardless of what he said, it's still art that he's putting out there. There have been lots of artists in history who we don't agree with, but we still buy into what they do. They're still talented people. I support him." –Veronica, 21, Pinkyotto

"I wouldn't want to support him."

"I don't support him for obvious reasons. I think people in the fashion industry will let him back in, but I wouldn't if I were them. I put my money in places I believe. I wouldn't want to support him in that way." –Claire, 22, Jane's Closet
