She Reveals Cory Monteith's Favorite Song

by Ivy Jacobson

Glee star Cory Monteith's fatal July drug overdose was devastating to everyone — especially his co-star and real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele. In recent months, she's opened up about what a huge influence Cory's love and support had on her life, and how he helped her create her first album, Louder. However, in a new interview with Teen Vogue , Lea Michele opened up about Cory Monteith giving her the strength she has today because of their "insane love."

"During Glee, I felt like I was scratching that itch of being an artist. I was at a great place in my life and I was so unbelievably happy. My relationship with Cory made me feel like I could reach for the stars and more," Michele says. "So I was like, 'I'm going to challenge myself and do this record now.'"

Michele says that Monteith was "such a fan" of her album, and knew it would be a success.

"He would be like, 'You're going to be a pop star! What are we going to do? Are we going to, like, go on the road?'" Michele says. "He would say, 'This is going to be big! And I'd be like, 'I don't know.'"

Monteith had a hand in helping Michele with her album, which makes it all the more special to her — and Michele knows which song was his favorite.

"He heard every song and gave me notes on everything," Michele says. "He loved 'Battlefield.' I'm getting chills thinking about it. I would say 'Burn With You' was his favorite. He came into the studio that day."

Even though Monteith tragically passed away six months ago, Michele says that she's now stronger because of the love they had for each other, and he's still a constant presence in her life.

"I somehow feel the insane love Cory and I had for each other morphed into this strength that I have right now," Michele says. "There's just something about knowing he's watching everything I'm doing and feeling like I have to do everything now not just for me but for him. I also have a safety net below me. If I fall or if it's too much, my friends and family will be there to catch me."
