Will Nicki Minaj Bring Meek Mill To The Grammys?

by Michelle Lulic

Before we know it, music's biggest night will be here. And, as always, The Grammys are bound to bring phenomenal musical performers, stunning red carpet looks, and the greatest throwbacks to the music of the past year. However, there's one question still on my mind when I think about which musical artists will be hitting the stage and the red carpet: Which celebrity couples will be there together? And, more specifically for this year, will Nicki Minaj bring Meek Mill, her long-time love, to the red carpet?

For this year's 58th Annual Grammy Awards, it's safe to assume Minaj will probably be in attendance, even though she has not been asked to perform. Considering that she is nominated for three different Grammys of her own — despite some apparent snubs — and is known for rocking the red carpet, I don't see why she wouldn't be in attendance. Especially since Minaj's nominations include Best Rap Album (for The Pinkprint), Best Rap Performance (for Truffle Butter), and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (for Only). However, with her few Grammys snubs, not to mention the fact that she isn't scheduled to perform, maybe there actually is a chance that the rap Queen will skip out on the event.

But, if she doesn't, will she be alone, or accompanied by Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams? That's a tougher question to answer — especially since it's looking likely Williamsmight not be able to attend.

Now I'm not saying that Minaj won't go to an award show without her beau. Because we all know she is strong and independent and doesn't need anyone by her side at any awards shows. However, as of Feb. 5, it seems as if Williams' ability to attend the Grammys on Feb. 15 may actually be pretty limited. Why? Well, because, as Us Weekly reported, Williams' appeared in Philadelphia court on Friday for allegedly violating his probation for the fourth time since he was arrested and charged with drug dealing and gun possession in 2008. In response to his fourth violation, the rapper was sentenced by the court to 90 days house arrest, during which time he is banned from releasing and performing music, and is required to wear an ankle monitor. "I believe I can be the bright star you expect me to be," he reportedly told Judge Genece Brinkley before the verdict, adding that he was sorry for "embarrassing" the court and planned to "get more life coaching," per Philly.com. His sentence, according to Us, is set to start on March 1.

So, considering the Grammys are before his probation sentence begins, he could totally still appear on the red carpet with Minaj, right? Honestly, I'm not so sure. What makes me think that Williams might just lay low until his 90 day probation begins is that Minaj was reportedly present in the courtroom when the sentence was announced, and, according to Philly.com, she apparently "pledged to help him follow the rules of his probation." So, my guess is this: Both of them might want to be sure that nothing goes wrong before his probation even begins, and laying low may be the best option.

Meanwhile, on the flip side of things, whether or not Williams will be by Minaj's side on the red carpet does not stop one other thing from appearing on the carpet alongside Minaj, should she attend — her gorgeous ring. The "Anaconda" singer showed off her giant diamond ring on Instagram after she received it as a gift from Williams for her birthday — and I don't see any reason as to why that part of her and Williams' relationship wouldn't be in attendance if she is. Although Minaj confirmed that the two are not engaged in an interview with Billboard magazine, she is still up for demonstrating that they have a solid relationship. Plus, she still has two more pre-engagement rings on the way.

But, all-in-all, will Minaj and her non-engagement-ring ring be hitting the Grammys with Williams on her arm? Unfortunately, we'll just have to wait and see — the Grammys air February 15 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
