What's Going To Happen To Sansa Season 6 of 'GoT'?

by Jordana Lipsitz

Every character on Game of Thrones lives a life that most of us only see in nightmares. Their punishments range from getting thrown out of a window, to going blind, to having one's arm lopped off –– and the truly unlucky ones don't even make it out alive. But I think the character with the toughest struggle has been Sansa because we've watched her go from just a grouchy teen with dreams of being a princess to a young woman whose world crumbled right out from under her. From almost the very beginning, when her beautiful direwolf was beheaded, it was clear Sansa was going to continue being a pawn in the game of the thrones for a long, horrible time. But maybe things will look up for Sansa this time around. What's going to happen to Sansa in Season 6 of Game of Thrones?

When we last saw the last remaining Stark girl (Arya is technically "no one" these days, remember?), she was escaping what was once her very comfortable home of Winterfell with Theon by leaping from the top of the castle into some very deep snow. Sansa had been married off to Ramsay Bolton, the super evil bastard who raped her on the wedding night in a move that had us all like, "But it wasn't Sansa who married him in the book it was Jeyne Poole — why you gotta play us like that, HBO?" Anyway, despite all this pain and torment, I have high hopes Sansa will not be taking anyone's crap this season. The following are a few educated guesses at what could happen to Sansa in Season 6.

1. Big, Big Changes for Sansa Stark

At the Entertainment Weekly SAG Awards Party, Sansa actress Sophie Turner dropped some Game of Thrones season 6 hints because she is kind and good and knows how much we worry about poor Sansa.

"I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It's probably her best season yet. It's her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect she deserves and she grabs a hold of it and runs with it and it's really good."

Sansa in a power position? I'm down.

2. Sansa At War

"Watchers on the Wall" reported that Turner was spotted shooting a battle scene. The theory is that this battle will also include Jon Snow and see the Northerners take on the Boltons. Maybe Rickon and Bran will show up too and we'll have a mini Stark reunion. Wouldn't that be nice?

3. She Could Be Pregnant With Ramsay's Baby

Two images were shared on HBO's "The Making of Game of Thrones" blog that seem to hint that Sansa's got a baby on the way. Since the last guy she had sex with was her rapist, Ramsay, I think we can assume this could-be baby would be his. Poor, poor Sansa. No one deserves that kind of torture.

4. She Could Kill Theon

Sure, he saved her life, but it's not like she doesn't deserve to exact some vengeance against one of the many Stark tormentors, and Theon is any easy target. Furthermore, homeboy is a little addled, so who's to say he won't try to pull a fast one on her and she'll have to defend herself? This theory is brought to you by Bustle's very own Leah Thomas, and with the weird connection Theon and Sansa have, it certainly makes a lot of sense.

5. Brienne Could Save The Day

Brienne is an astute lady knight who now knows that Sansa is at Winterfell, and chances are she will see that candle burning in the window at Winterfell and come to save the day. I mean, sure Sansa's not going to be at Winterfell, but I have high hopes that Brienne can find her before Ramsay even notices his wife is gone (he'll be too busy doing evil stuff to pay her any mind). If Brienne finds Sansa then she could certainly help Sansa exact vengeance on whoever she wants.

6. Fans Could Get Used To Hearing "Queen Sansa Of The North"

Let's think about it: Sansa could use a victory, and she is the only Stark left (so far as most people in Westeros know) to take the spot, should the Starks regain Winterfell.

7. She's Gonna Make It

In a moment captured by E! News on the red carpet at the Oscars, Turner let it slip to Giuliana Rancic that Sansa is going to survive in Season 6. She said, "I'm like flicking through [the script] saying, death, death, death, death ... alright, I'm good for this season." Turner might be just jerking our chains, but Sansa's made it this far in the series without dying, so she could totally make it.

Whatever happens to Sansa this season, I'm pretty excited to see her development. She's gone from a bratty girl to a punching bag, and now it's time for her to shine –– or at the very least, have a few escapades with Theon. We'll just have to wait until April 24 to find out which way this girl goes.
