What We've Learned About 'GOT' From The Trailer

Your favorite blood circus Game of Thrones may not come back until Apr. 24, but that doesn't mean we should sit around on our laurels, twiddling our thumbs and waiting for it, does it? That kind of trusting attitude seems like a great way to get Red Wedding-ed, if you ask me. So, instead, I'm going to put my media training to the test, and pick apart the footage we've gotten so far, to lay out everything we know about Game of Thrones from the latest trailer. I'm sick and tired of waiting patiently for more GoT. I want it and I want it now. And luckily for me (and for you), my Tully eyes are sharp and don't miss much.

There were some moments in the trailer that stuck out to me as meaningful, and that I think give us an idea of what to expect for the season. (Do you see the lengths that we smug book-readers have to go to, George R.R. Martin, now that the show has passed the books? Is this what you wanted?? Are you happy now?) I won't hold my breath for an answer on that, but here are the 12 things we learn in the trailer.

1. He Really Dead

By "he," I mean Jon Snow, and by "really dead," I mean they say the phrase "he's gone" while panning over his facedown body. I still don't believe it, but it's something we're clearly supposed to take away from the trailer.

2. These Two Are Back On The Ins

What Jaime Lannister is saying to Cersei in this moment is, "We are the only two people who matter," so I guess they got over their incest-aversion thing and are back in each others' corners. No pun intended.

3. Melisandre Has Some 'Splaining To Do

"The great victory I saw in the flames — all of it was a lie." Sounds pretty foreboding, no?

4. Jorah Mormont Hasn't Given Up

I wondered if Jorah Mormont would sort of drift out of the picture now that Danaerys Targaryen has pushed him away for what feels like the thousandth time, but it looks like he's still in it to win it.

5. Dany Has Been Taken Prisoner By The Dothraki

Sucks, dude.

6. There's A Suggestion That Sansa And Tyrion's Paths Cross Again

We never see them speak, but, as we pan over Sansa Stark, we hear Tyrion Lannister's voice saying, "You're in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying." Almost like he's giving her advice. And we know she survives this season, so maybe they run into each other again.

7. Dragon

Can't go wrong with that.

8. There's A Clash Between Cersei And The Sparrows

We all saw this coming, but Cersei removed all doubt when she said, "I choose violence."

9. These Two Seem To Be Back To, Uh, You Know

Remember before when I said "no pun intended" about them being in each others' corners? I take that back, they definitely are.

10. We Get More Brienne

Don't even care how it figures into the plot; this is just the best news ever.

11. Arya Is Really Going Through It

In this trailer alone, we see her get struck in the throat, and then these weird milky eyes that she's rocking. Apparently, this is not the season for Arya Stark to kick back and relax.

12. Bran's Back, And He Has A New Friend

Oh, hi there. Hello. RUN.

And here's the trailer in full, for all of your careful watching needs.

Part of me feels a little better, having a vague idea of what's before me. But the rest of me knows that the sooner HBO releases a new trailer, the better, because I am milking every scrap of information out of these promos, and my hunger will never be filled.
