This Gossip Girl Just Came Out of Hiding

by Mary Avant

Remember the good ol' days when Gossip Girl was still king and we waited anxiously each week to see what outfits — both amazing and awful — Blake Lively would wear on screen and off? Sadly, those days are gone, as are the days of Lively’s endless red carpet appearances in plunging necklines and leg-baring gowns.

Now that Gossip Girl has passed and the actress married one of the hottest men in Hollywood, Ryan Reynolds, Lively’s been going under the radar, making the rare appearance for a L’Oreal Paris event here and a White House visit there. But the blonde bombshell put an end to her newly reclusive ways yesterday when she showed up to New York Fashion Week — to quite the surprise and delight of many — to sit front row at the Fall '14 Michael Kors show.

Looking polished and put together in a navy floral skirt and bandeau top; short-sleeve navy blazer; tan leather belt; and nude Christian Louboutin heels, Lively managed to show off her gorgeous body with a major slit and noticeably low-cut neckline — effectively combining both the sexy style she’s come to be known for, as well as staying true to the more demure, mature, but still-chic look she’s adopted since becoming Mrs. Reynolds in 2012.

Though Lively garnered the most attention, she wasn’t the only star on the front row at Kors’ fall show. Actress Frieda Pinto showed up in a gorgeously girly purple floral sheath dress — complete with structured shoulders and a midriff cutout — while Glee’s Naya Rivera looked beautiful (and quite blonde) in a midi pencil skirt and white crop top. Actress Rose Byrne — who wore a simple polka-dot shirt dress with a brown leather belt and chunky heels — and actor Michael Douglas also made an appearance.

Declaring her love for Kors as a friend and designer, Lively praised the collection following the show, telling Fashionista:

He has such iconic shapes, and when you look at a Michael Kors woman, she’s fully realized. There’s nothing trite or young about her, she’s got her fingers on the pulse of fashion, but it doesn’t seem trendy, it seems timeless.

We have to admit: We're a fan of Lively in Michael Kors, too, and we've missed seeing her on the red carpet in his and other designers' elegant creations. We're hoping her most recent appearance is not only a sign of what's to come for Lively style-wise, but a sign that the much-loved actress will once again be showing her fresh face more often.
