13 Feminist Quotes About Workplace Equality

by Megan Grant

It's 2016. We have hover boards and jet packs, and yet women are still frequently viewed as less valuable than men in the workplace. Quotes from feminists about work and workplace equality continue to echo in our minds as women push for equal pay for equal work, paid maternity leave without fear of negative consequences, and in general, one final farewell to the myth that we're at risk of destroying an entire company just because we're on our periods.

The fight for gender equality has, in many ways, reached an all-time high. Entertainment and political powerhouses like Emma Watson, Beyonce, and Hillary Clinton are stepping forward and unwaveringly speaking in the name of balance and fairness. Feminism is slowly (very slowly) but surely (fingers crossed) losing its negative connotation and becoming a space where everyone — women, men, gender nonconforming people, and more — are finding their place. And for good reason: We should all know and except by now that this is not just about women. Everyone plays an absolutely vital role. We can't do this without everyone being on board.

While there still may be people justifying the gender pay gap (or even flat-out denying that it exists), the lack of maternity and parental leave, and the unfair treatment of women at work, there are even more running to our defense.
