'Vampire Diaries' Fans, Rejoice!

by Anna Klassen

Don't worry, young adult television fans, The CW has renewed Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Reign, and The Originals for another season. True to past years, the network has given early renewals to its most beloved and highest performing shows. And not surprisingly, these shows have proven year and year again to be successful. However, many of the new CW shows like Beauty & the Beast, The Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie and The Tomorrow People have yet to get any reassuring signs. Arrow is the network's most watched show with 3.9 million viewers, while vampire love-triangle series The Vampire Diaries, continues to be the network's highest rated show, coming in at number two in the Thursday 8 p.m. time period among adults 18-34.

Those shows not in the clear will have to wait until midseason, that is, until the CW premieres their series The 100, set in a post-Apocolyptic reality where 100 individuals are selected to return to planet earth and see if it's a viable place to live once again. The CW's other mid-seasoner, Star-Crossed, follows a studly alien vying for a human teenager's heart.
