Will Beyoncé Really Be At The 2016 Met Gala?

With one of fashion's most famous red carpet walks just around the corner, the question needs to be posed: Will Beyoncé be at the 2016 Met Gala? Considering this year's Met Gala theme is "tech white tie" in honor of the Manus X Machina exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, it would be nearly heartbreaking if she wasn't. Just think of what amazing-ness Bey would come up with within those kinds of perimeters. So why the hesitation over her RSVP to begin with? Well, Queen Bey is already engaged in a little something-something: The Formation Tour — also known as Beyoncé's highly anticipated world tour that started Apr. 27 and doesn't end until Aug. 3.

If she's busy killing it on stage, it might be a little hard to wrap things up and show up on a red carpet that same evening, no? Some might think so, but it appears there's a high chance she and Jay Z will make an appearance. According to ET, "A source tells ET that the pair will most likely attend this year's ceremony... as Beyoncé conveniently has a break in her tour schedule that day." I suppose when you're Met Gala royalty, you make sure your concerts won't interfere with that date. Which I think totally makes sense. If she does have a break in her tour schedule for the evening of May 2, why wouldn't she grace us with her presence? Although nothing is yet confirmed, I'm willing to say we'll see Bey and Jay strutting up that red staircase.

In anticipation of that amazing moment, let's look back at Beyoncé's last six Met Gala appearances, taking in the fabulous-ness that is her fierce style.

1. Lookin' Sheer In 2015

Last year's theme was "Chinese White Tie," and Beyoncé showed up in a bejeweled Givenchy Haute Couture gown.

2. Dressing For Charles James In 2014

"Charles James" was the theme in 2014, likely because he was America's best known courtier. How does one dress for that? Well, Costume Institute curator Harold Koda told Vanity Fair, “James had an extraordinarily, highly evolved palette. It was more colors than one finds in an English garden. I am expecting that the people who really want to evoke James will also play with this saturated jewel color.” While Bey didn't necessarily go that route, she did show up in a vintage noir look that would make James proud.

3. Going Punk In 2013

Studded belts, thigh-high boots, licks of flames, and touches of leather? I'd say Queen Bey got the punk theme down pat.

4. Breaking Boundaries In 2012

The theme in 2012 was " Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations," which called for surrealist, boundary-breaking styles. Beyoncé nailed it on the head with her fur-and-sequined gown, moving from sleek shades of black to acidic purple.

5. Looking Savage In 2011

This year's theme was "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty," which called for unorthodox, out-of-the-box styles. Bey brought her A-game in this fishtail dress, which really did prove to be out-of-that-box. According to New York Magazine, "Trussed up in a black and gold Emilio Pucci gown, she was hobbled so terribly by her dress' fishtail silhouette that she had to be carried up the stairs by Jay Z and her stylist, Ty Hunter." When you can't even move in your dress, you know you've done fashion proud.

6. Kind Of A Superhero In 2008

This was Bey's first Met Gala appearance. The theme was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy," but I can't say that she brought that idea to fruition with this pale pink number. Who really succeeds at their first go, though?

So here's hoping we get a glimpse of Beyoncé walking down that red carpet on May 2. I'm sure a lot of us are dying to see what she comes up with for this year's theme.
