Allison Williams At The 2016 Met Gala Was A Vision

by Amanda Richards

Until I watched this season of GIRLS, I wasn't the biggest fan of Allison Williams, only because I wasn't too familiar with her work. But between her spectacular performance on the show's fifth season and Allison Williams' 2016 Met Gala look, she has solidified herself a place in my heart, both as an entertainer and someone who makes solid sartorial choices.

A far cry from the questionable fashion (and husband, and career) decisions of her character, Marnie, Williams knows how to dress the hell out of herself for events like these. To fit in with the theme, "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology," Williams chose a custom Peter Pilotto gown that was so on-theme that it actually hurt.

It's definitely a departure from her usual look, which tows the line between girl-next-door and classic, feminine silhouettes. To complete the ensemble, Williams wore beads and tiny adornments in her hair, and opted for an insanely gorgeous pair of minimalist earrings that could easily transition from her epic gala look to a T-shirt and leggings combo. A dark red lip and perfectly manicured eyebrows were the ideal beauty compliment to the outfit and accessories, and the fact that she's a knockout in the most classic sense of the word didn't hurt, either.

Williams was also one of the stars who hinted at her look before the event, Instagraming a picture of her steampunk-inspired set of nails by nail artist Pattie Yankee. The nail preview got the wheels in our brains turning on what she might choose to wear, and as you can see, she looks absolutely spectacular. Here's the mani, up close and personal.

She is so not a Marnie right now.
