How To Store Your Jeans Properly

While you know that hanging coats, dresses, and jackets are a must, things become a little more unclear when it comes to pants. I mean, what's the deal? Should you fold or hang jeans? You want your clothing to last as long as humanely possible (read: so that you don't have to buy new ones on the regs), so caring for them and storing them properly is crucial. And it's never too late to start doing things the proper way.

Jeans are one of those more unclear items when it comes to your closet organization. Half the time, I have them folded in a dresser, but other times (like when I have more closet room), I gravitate towards hanging them. This is more out of how much space I've had depending on where I was living than it is out of actually knowing the proper storage for jeans, but it's about time to settle it. Should you be folding, or hanging up?

When it comes to jeans, there is really no right or wrong answer. Unlike dresses or trousers, jeans are extremely durable, so they can be folded without risk of wrinkling or losing their shape. Ditto with other heavy pants such as cords, leather, or cargo pants.

But what if you don't have a dresser or shelves? Or if for some reason, you just prefer to hang everything? No worries — you can totally hang jeans, too. Just make sure by hanging your jeans and heavy pants, you aren't losing closet space to the things you actually need to hang, like dresses, skirts, jackets, dress pants/trousers, anything silk, and blouses.

So whichever way you've been doing it, you're good to keep it up!
