Rihanna Looks Totally '90s At The BBMAs

by Eliza Florendo

When I'm trying to look like a complete badass, there's only one woman I look to: Rihanna. Whether she's wearing a fur coat, see-through top and jean skirt combo, or glammed up on the red carpet, she always straight up kills her look. Rihanna at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards did not disappoint, walking onto the red carpet wearing a tuxedo-style dress that was equal parts sexy and polished. Are you surprised that she nailed it?

On the streets — she slays. At press events — she slays. In music videos — she double slays. Can we talk about her latex bodysuit in the "Bitch Better Have My Money" music video? Pretty sure I dreamt about that for all my revenge plans. Or what about her Met Gala yellow gown that was meme'd like crazy? Made by Guo Pei, it pretty much won the Red Carpet, and (in my opinion) has not been beat out yet.

When it comes to fashion, Rihanna isn't afraid to take risks. She plays with silhouettes — pairing loose fits with crops — and textures, like mixing leathers and furs. Seriously, look through her Instagram and prepared to be inspired by her straight up hilarious videos and style photos. She's surely come a long way since her "Pon De Replay" music video, with her low-rise jeans and gold crop (still flawless, by the way).

On the red carpet, Rihanna showed up fashionably late, but we were not disappointed: RiRi slayed in a chocolate brown tuxedo style dress with asymmetrical buttons. It was such a different take than what badgirlriri usually goes with, but I was all about it.

With those black and white shoes, she's giving me vintage office vibes with a modern bob.

Stunning, right? She basically proves that you can go simple and classic at an award show, and still totally kill it. Tonight, Bad Girl RiRi is up for three nominations: Top Female Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top R&B Album. Best of luck to my favorite R&B queen. You've already won my hearts.
