Sephora's New 'Divergent' Line: Are You On Board?

by Tyler Atwood

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside without being bombarded by Hunger Games paraphernalia and promos, there's a new kid in town with endorsement deals to spare. Young adult series Divergent is hitting theaters on March 21, but you'll be able to pick up your very own Divergent makeup set at Sephora starting earlier in the month.

Ranging in price from $27.50 to $59.50, the Divergent collection offers a 7 Piece Nail Art Kit, Multi-Piece Collector's Kit, and Multi-Piece Collector's Palette. While the makeup line may sound a bit gimmicky, the actual palettes bear an intriguing resemblance to Urban Decay's cult classic Naked palette. Shades of shimmering champagne, peach, and hazel cover the basics, while edgier navy and black shadows are perfect for a party-appropriate smokey eye.

Fans of the series may be pleased to learn each makeup shade was inspired by the books in some way, but regular makeup junkies shouldn't be turned off by the line. The collection isn't plastered with movie stills or images of Shailene Woodley looking fierce and determined, which is quite a relief to those of us who have no idea what Divergent is about.

While we'll reserve judgement until we're able to test the quality of the products, the look of the collection is pure glamour from the streamlined, Ferris Wheel-emblazoned packaging of the eyeshadow palettes to the slim, metallic cases of the blush and bronzer. We're just thankful this makeup doesn't look anything like Effie's from The Hunger Games. If all goes well with the palette, who knows? We might even be inspired to see the movie.
