SJP Wears A Plastic Dress That's Actually Cool

by Kali Borovic

What happens when you combine plastic, a tutu, and a pair of sparkly pumps? Apparently a pretty fabulous outfit. Bringing out her inner Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a plastic dress to the 2016 Parsons Benefit and completely pulled it off. This isn't the first time she's rocked a daring look either. The woman is a true wiz with her wardrobe.

It's no surprise that Parker pulled out all the stops with her ensemble at the fashion event, but I don't think anyone was expecting her to come in a see-through dress. The 51-year-old star paired an embellished plastic gown with a white tutu and a plain, long-sleeve shirt to make for one seriously fabulous look. She completed the futuristic style with a high pony tail and a simple smokey eye, that brought a much more casual feel.

The look by itself wasn't all that dressy, but her sparkly pointed-toe pumps made it all the more glamorous. Actually, if she were switch it up with a pair of sneakers, she could easily run around town in this fun outfit. I would die to see her recreate a Sex And The City moment in this quirky ensemble. All in all, it was one standout outfit that no one could pull off except her.

How great is that?! She could easily take off the plastic and make it much more wearable, but that wouldn't be true Parker style.

She didn't need any accessories to make this look come to life. Just a simple clutch was her only add-on for the night.

This isn't the first time that Parker has pulled together an astonishing outfit either. I don't know if it's because of her years on Sex And The City or if it all just comes naturally to her, but she's awfully daring on the red carpet. Here are some of her quirkiest looks yet.

1. Pirate-Inspired Met Gala 2016

Parker opted for a two-piece instead of her normal ball gown for the event, but she still brought it with her style.

2. Sparkles On Sparkles

All by itself, the dress doesn't seem too daring, but it's all in the details. She paired a sequined dress with a metallic bag and shiny shoes without looking over-the-top. Now that's talent.

3. Met Gala Headpiece 2015

If every a there was a time and place to be quirky, it's the Met Gala. Parker definitely took advantage of that with her headpiece.

4. Jersey-Styled Dress-Up

Parker combined casual and dressy into one outfit with this jersey-styled shirt paired with embellished heels. I don't know how she made the two styles blend together so flawlessly.

5. White Met Gala Gloves 2014

Yet another daring Met Gala outfit pulled off with ease!

6. Unconventional Layering

A white, lace dress would have been enough, but Parker always goes the extra mile.

7. Polka Dot Galore

At first glance you might think this is just a sassy and sweet combo, but just wait until you see her accessories.

Polka dotted right down to the pantyhose! No one can do color and print quite like Parker.

She's worn quite a few daring looks in her day, but her plastic dress takes the cake.
