Adele Honors The Orlando Victims

by Lia Beck

After news broke of the shooting at Orlando, Florida nightclub Pulse that left 49 people dead and 53 injured, it was impossible to make it through Sunday without being haunted by the senseless and tragic event. And this was also the case for Adele, who dedicated her Sunday night show to the Orlando victims. As Buzzfeed notes, the singer started crying while speaking about the victims and telling the Antwerp, Belgium crowd that the show would be in honor of them.

A concertgoer took a video of the beginning of the concert, which shows Adele first talking about Antwerp itself (she's playing three shows in the city!), before she starts getting teary and talking about Orlando.

"I would like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando at Pulse nightclub last night," Adele said. "The LGBTQA community, they're like my soul mates since I was really young, so I'm very moved by it."

After getting choked up, the singer did throw in a bit of her signature humor. "I didn't wanna cry, really, because most of tonight is pretty miserable, because my songs are f*cking miserable," she said. "I do have two songs that sound happy, but they're not."

Adele's sweet words and her dedication of the entire show will no doubt mean a lot to her fans, not just in Orlando, but all around the world.
